My computer keeps losing its internet connection

If you are using a router, chances are that your Internet Service Provider had a small glitch, and locked up the router (This is very common with older Linksys Routers). Unplug your router, count to 3, and plug it back in. Give it a little bit to sync up.

If this is a consistent problem, and the above fixes the problem, I would suggest upgrading the firmware of your router. If that still does not fix the problem, you might have to look into replacing your router.

Click START

Click RUN (in Windows XP or earlier) - OR Type into the "Start Search Box" (on Vista or Newer) CMD - Hit enter

Type IPCONFIG/ALL - Hit enter

Look for a headline that says something about Wireless Adapter

Then look for "Physical Address" - Big long string of numbers and letters (example: 00-1F-5B-00-43-05) - This is your wirelss MAC address

From a computer currently connected to your router (and working properly) Click START

Click RUN (in Windows XP or earlier) - OR Type into the "Start Search Box" (on Vista or Newer) CMD - Hit enter

Type IPCONFIG - Hit enter

Look for your "Default Gateway" - the IP Address shown here should get you to your router.
